Madigan’s Account – The Mawson Expedition. The Antarctic Diaries of C. T. Madigan

Lovingly transcribed by his niece Julie Madigan who also arranged and paid for the publication of this revealing book. Cecil Madigan was a Rhodes Scholar and Mawson’s deputy at Cape Denison and volunteered to remain behind for a second year when his leader failed to return in time to board his ship the Aurora. The meteorologist at Cape Denison, Madigan was often critical of Mawson and wrote frankly in his diaries of his feelings. Julie has kindly donated all remaining copies to the Foundation to help conserve the huts her uncle lived in for two years 608 pages.
