The Foundation’s role as the custodian and champion of Sir Douglas Mawson and his place in pioneering Australia’s Antarctic presence is embodied through the ongoing success of the Replica Museum.

Through its school outreach and museum-based interpretation messages, the Museum continues to spawn inspiration, curiosity and education through visitor experiences and education programs, ensuring the story of Sir Douglas Mawson, his men and their ongoing collective influences are kept alive – their spirit of discovery, perseverance and ultimately success carried forward for generations to come.

Funds raised through visitation to the Museum and the Mobile Antarctic Classroom outreach program, have enabled the Foundation, so far, to mount fourteen expeditions south and in doing so, become the lead agency in undertaking vital conservation work on the Mawson’s Huts complex at Cape Denison, East Antarctica.
