An exhibition of 118 paintings and 20 limited edition etchings by Sydney award winning artist Wendy Sharpe was held at the Australian National Maritime Museum July 23-28 with all proceeds going toward the conservation of Mawson’s Huts at Cape Denison.
Sponsored by the Foundation and with the generous support of the Australian Antarctic Division(AAD), Wendy spent 6 weeks onboard the P & O’s research and supply vessel Aurora Australis with scientists and the official party which helicoptered into Cape Denison for a brief visit to celebrate the Centenary of the arrival of the 1911-14 Australasian Antarctic Expedition (AAE) led by Douglas Mawson in January 1912. This collection of paintings is unique as they were painted by the artist while onboard the Aurora Australis, apart from the three oil paintings, the “Antarctic Fridge” and the limited edition etching.
Wendy’s wonderful works are for sale and can be purchased by contacting us at the Mawson’s Huts Foundation.
All of these paintings can be seen by clicking on an image below to display the size, medium and title. Each painting is framed and this is included in the cost. Freight is not included and will be charged if required.
